Core Web Vitals was introduced in 2021 as a major factor in Google's ranking systems. This course helps you understand what are the core web vitals, how you can optimize for it. With the goal of passing Google's requirements and ultimately have a better website for your users.
You can check if your website passes the core web vitals requirement in your Google search console > Page experience report, and in Google PageSpeed Insights.

What are Core Web Vitals?
First, we have to talk about Web Vitals. This is an initiative by Google to provide guidance on quality signals that are important to deliver a great user experience.
Core Web Vitals is a subset of Web Vitals. It is concerned with only 3 aspects, which are:
- Largest contentful paint (LCP)
- First input delay (FID)
- Cumulative layout shift (CLS)
Core Web Vitals is a broad core algorithm update to the Google ranking algorithm. So this will be a major part of how Google ranks pages.
Google will assess your website’s core web vitals in ranking pages on its search results. This is a technical assessment and there is a score to meet. There is a right and wrong - whether your website pass/fail core web vitals.
What does this mean for us?
So this means that core web vitals will impact SEO, rankings and traffic to your website.
In other words, if your website does not pass the core web vitals metrics, Google will consider your site to have a poor user experience and that will affect your SEO and rankings.
